About Us

On February 16, 1938, eighteen members of Oshkosh Truck Corporation were officially approved by the Internatnional Auto Workers to obtain a charter. The very charter that created Local 578 to serve the newly formed membership of Oshkosh Truck has not changed. Over 70 plus years, the vigilant Union honors those who stood united in the beginning with their dedication to the best possible workplace for the membership of Oshkosh Truck and will remain strong for the future.

UAW Local 578 is located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and is a part of UAW Region 4.

Bob Lynk

Bob Lynk has been a UAW Local 578 member since 2008. He was voted into his new position as President in June 2017. He was previously a Chief Steward.

Brian was elected to Vice President in June 2017.

Tim Jacobson was voted in as Chief Steward in 2017. It is first time as part of the Bargaining Committee with UAW Local 578.

Rob Schackow was formerly Skilled Trade/Ad-Hoc when he was part of the last Bargaining Committee.

Jeff Hitz was previously in the role of a steward and has been a Vice President in the past. He was elected to become a Chief Steward when John Blake retired in April 2021.
